Matthew Gorman is a music lawyer. Matt has extensive experience within the music, entertainment, intellectual property, and digital rights space, where he advises performers, producers, songwriters, composers, managers, record labels, music publishers, social media influencers, authors, and dynamic entertainment/digital businesses and disruptors. He regularly negotiates and drafts commercial and entertainment contracts of all kinds, and advises clients on international industry standards, rights management issues, and assists in dispute resolution. Matt’s clients include Grammy and JUNO award winning talent. Heavily involved in the music community, Matt is a frequent writer, lecturer, and speaker on music related legal issues at conferences and events all over North America. He is a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers and has held board/committee positions with Music Nova Scotia, East Coast Music Association, and Peggy’s Cove Centre for Arts & Culture. He also owns and operates Ocean Town Music, a management company that has worked with multi-platinum talent. Matt was very active within the creative arts space long before becoming a lawyer, which helps inform his practice everyday. Outside of the office, he enjoys playing the drums, piano, and guitar.
