Jack J is an Australian born musician based in Vancouver Canada. As one half of Pender Street Steppers and a founding member of the seminal Mood Hut record label and studio he has lent a steady and influential hand in shaping the sound of Vancouver music for over a decade. Jack’s debut full length LP wouldn’t appear until 2022, almost seven years since his last 12”. From the first single ‘Only You Know Why’ it became clear that Jack’s carefree dance explorations had evolved and matured; subtle acoustic guitar driven song writing, ambient jazz, psychedelic dub excursions, balearic funk. The album, however, didn’t stray from Jack’s immediately recognizable sonic vibe. Jack's familiar voice is heavily featured on the LP and tempered with a bittersweet world-weariness. The album was his entry into a continuum of music that can feel as bright as it does blue: think John Martyn, The System, Talk Talk, Sade.
