Shayla Oulette Stonechild is a proud Red River Mètis and Nehiyaw iskwew (Plains Cree woman) from Muscowpetung First Nations. She has dedicated her life to empowering Indigenous youth and women to unlock their true potential. By sharing her own personal journey she strives to promote life and amplify Indigenous teachings within the wellness industry. Shayla is a global yoga ambassador for lululemon, and the Founder and Host of the “Matriarch Movement”, which is an online platform, podcast, and non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying Indigenous voices and providing wellness workshops to Indigenous women and two spirit people across Canada. Shayla also actively works towards fostering Indigenous representation and inclusion within mainstream media. She was the host of APTN’s “Red Earth Uncovered”, and was the co-host of ET Canada’s “Artists & Icons: Indigenous Entertainers in Canada”. ET Canada and Shayla took home two Canadian Screen awards for the segment (Best Talk Program or Series and Best Direction). The series was produced in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt day. Shayla's impact extends far beyond her individual achievements. She has had over 50+ brand collaborations through content creation and focuses on themes such as language revitalization, matriarchy and Indigenous advocacy. Some collaborations include: Adobe, Peloton, Meta, Audible, Crave Canada, Indigo, Telus, Saje Wellness, etc. Through her unwavering dedication to empowering her community and advocating for Indigenous rights, Shayla has left an indelible mark on the world.
