Byram Beatchild Joseph

Byram “Beatchild” Joseph, also known as Slakah the Beatchild, is an internationally respected performing producer, multi‐instrumentalist and published songwriter. He first made waves in 2008 with the release of his debut album Soul Movement Vol. 1 on the legendary BBE label, and his 12-year retrospective Nostalgia reaffirmed his timeless impact. Invited to DJ Jazzy Jeff’s exclusive PLAYLIST Retreat as a recognized industry luminary, Byram has continued to influence peers worldwide. As a published songwriter with Reservoir Media, his compositions blend soulful storytelling with modern production techniques. His credits span acclaimed collaborations with Glenn Lewis, Divine Brown, Drake, Sinead Harnett, Kardinal Offishall, Justin Nozuka—and even extend to Korean rap icons dok2 and The Quiett—showcasing his global reach and versatility. From festival stages to studio suites, Byram Joseph has cemented his status as a driving force in music production—and he’s only just beginning. Driven by a passion for both building businesses and lifting up emerging talent, Byram’s entrepreneurial drive and long-standing mentorship work with Canada’s music Incubator laid the groundwork for the Professional Music Producers Association of Canada (PMPAC). What began as a six-year vision—to create a national home where producers could access data-informed research, hands-on training and collective advocacy—finally launched this year under his leadership.
